Could I ask if anyone has encountered very bad scalp pain during chemo?
I have had 4x docetaxel with phesgo and have moved onto EC, I've cold capped throughout but since starting EC my scalp is very painful and feels frozen, this time it's lasted 7 days so far.
I spent today on the phone with the breast care nurse and the onco dept but after 12 hours I was told they'd try and get my consultant to contact me tomorrow and if it worsens to go to A&E.
Just looking for answers and anything that can help with the pain.
Thank you x
Hi BevF
I also did scalp cooling during my chemo and did have pain. I also found that around 14 days after each chemo- when shedding would begin- my scalp would feel very tender, itchy and sort of achy. It would last a couple of days.
With each cycle of chemo I did shed some hair and from the second dose I had a theatre cap to protect my scalp- it may be worth doing this yourself.
I hope that you have now heard from your consultant and that you have been given some advice/treatment and are feeling more comfortable now.
Jane
