Retracting Nipples - I'm Panicking!

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right spot to post about this. I really just need a place to vent because I'm spiralling quite badly.

I'm in quite a unique situation because I'm a trans man who binds my chest with KT tape. I very rarely am not binding. This means that I don't often get a chance to look at my breasts and check for abnormalities, and that it's hard to distinguish any abnormalities from irritation that might be caused by the tape itself. For nearly two years I've been on testosterone hormone therapy, which is supposed to reduce breast size. In the past few months, however, I've noticed that my breasts feel bigger, firmer, and it's harder to bind them.

I've also noticed that my nipples have been retracting. It's unlike any pictures I've seen online, though. It's as if the top of the nipple is retracting meanwhile the bottom protrudes as normal. At first I chalked it up to the fact that I'm constantly manipulating my breasts to sit in an abnormal way, but I have a family history of breast cancer and the more and more I look into the symptoms the more scared I become. I haven't found any lumps, but I also am not quite sure what a lump is supposed to feel like. I've got an appointment with my GP, but I don't want to wait. It's all I can think about now. If anyone has any advice for dealing with the anxiety, or if anyone has experience with similar retracting nipples or even with binding and breast cancer symptoms, I'd be appreciative to hear your stories!

  • Hi  , I am sorry to read that you are so anxious. I don't have any similar experience but I would definitely advise getting checked by your GP. Can you ask for an emergency appointment and get seen sooner? Like you have said, it could be related to the binding or even the hormone tablets you are taking and hopefully your GP can advise you. Given the family history, it might be best to have a clinic referral anyway just ot fully reassure you.

    Good luck .
