I have a program of 15 radiotherapy sessions coming up.  What do you wise people recommend for creams/lotion to help soothe.?

Someone recommended papaya?? But couldn't find any products.  Thanks for your help

  • I used E45 and didn't experience any redness.

  • I used Avene Cicalfate restorative cream.  Worked great and very little redness.  I had 16 sessions to each breast and a boost of 5 extra to one. Did great and I am someone with reactive sensitive skin, fair skinned so was concerned.

Take care.  Don't use anything with fragrance and stand with your back to the shower so as not to have that water pounding on that sensitive skin and no rubbing with face cloth or rubbing dry with a towel.  Only pat dry.  Just a few tips.  Drink lots of water too.

  • Hi, it depends on your skin I think. Mine reacts ro everything! I used flamigel which is very light and worked well for me. As   says - keep hydrated as this helps recovery and limits fatigue. A physio recommended coconut water to me.
    Good luck! X

Hi mushroommel..welcome to the forum. You cannot use any creams nor deodorants before radiotherapy but something like aloe Vera is really good and gives a good moisturiser.. The other thing to do which will help enormously with skin hydration is to drink plenty of fluids before and after each treatment.. Best Wishes for the rest of your treatment. Gail x

  • I was recommended to use Aveeno and it's been great

  • I was given DoubleBase in the hospital after my treatments  and continued to use it until the soreness passed.
