Hi. Has anyone had lymphodema following their lymph node removal? If so, how did it start?
I had lymph nodes removed in Feb and today I have noticed my hand is swollen and sore when I rub it.
I am freaking out this is the start of lymphodema and wondering how I can stop it from progressing/get rid of this swelling asap.
I have been seeing a physio for cording and I am seeing her on Tuesday so I will mention it to her as she does specialised massage for lymphodema but just don’t want it getting worse.
I know the importance of exercise and have been exercising every day so nothing has changed there. Just wondering what may have triggered it.
Hi Sparkle498uk welcome to the forum. My lymphhodema started in my breast but unbeknown to me had also settled in my back and arm. I was started on an antibiotics for 2 weeks as that was the standard treatment for Lymphodema. Like you I was able to access through the NHS a Lymphodema specialist who I saw and wore a sleeve for a while and also had massage to free lymph in my back and breast. Either way this needs looked at for you to check this and it sounds like you have that suggestion already in hand seeing the physio..Hope you get some answers and please do let us know how you get on..Best wishes Gail x
