Can anyone please explain what what the bottom two lines mean
Left Breast Grade 2 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma
ER & PR positive
HER2 FISH
Good morning, Sheelagh
ER & PR positive means your cancer is hormone receptive and uses the hormones oestrogen and progesterone to grow. This means following your other treatments you will have medication to either block the effects of oestrogen (Tamoxifen which I take as pre-menopausal) or to prevent the production of oestrogen (aramatose inhibitors).
HER2 is a protein which makes some cancers grow and FISH is a test to find out if your cancer is receptive to this. Mine was HER negative so I don’t know much about the treatment for HER positive but I’m sure some other lovely people will be able to give some insight. x
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
