Hello everyone - just wondering what people’s experiences of waiting for sentinel lymph node biopsy times has been? I had left breast mastectomy 2 weeks past on Monday, was due to see consultant last Thurs but results not in, rebooked for today - just had a call to say results still not in and now rebooked for next Thurs - is 3-4 weeks normal wait time? Just really frustrated & upset as anxiety through the roof past week waiting and now facing another week
Most of my results are about 3 weeks but then depends of which day of the week you team having the weekly meeting to discuss it first. One time I waited 6 weeks and the was torture so hoping you are waiting much longer!
Thanks, trying not to worry about it and put it out my mind now til next week - 6 weeks must have been awful!
Thanks everyone, it’s not good to hear you all had to wait but helpful to know my wait is not unusual xx I’ve stopped crying now & picking myself up to focus on ongoing recovery from my mastectomy & get biopsy redults - hopefully- next week thank u, such a supportive forum xxx
Hi there
I had my lumpectomy and sentinel node surgery last week, Wednesday. Currently at my hospital results are taking up to 8 weeks!
I will get results the week I am due to go away on holiday unless, fingers crossed they come back early.
still being told to hold off cancelling holiday by surgeon, but cannot get excited about holiday at moment as I’m just in limbo. Plus worried about cancelling at last minute and what refunds we can get on flights especially as they been paid in full and weren’t cheap!
Hi Elizabeth what a dilemma, the waiting for results is the most difficult part to cope with and I can totally understand why you can't get excited about your holiday. How are you feeling at the moment physically, if it were me and I was feeling ok I would still go on holiday. If you get your results back and the worst scenario being that you need further treatment that's not going to happen immediately you will have amother few weeks of waiting. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal in Dec 24 went back for full node clearance in Jan 25 followed by radiotherapy April 25. Feeling fine now, but it did take a few months x
Awe I’m so sorry, that’s such a long wait I’ll keep everything crossed you get to go on holiday xxx
