Have completed 4x EC cycles wearing cold cap and had minimal loss. I’m coming up to 2nd of 4x paclitaxel and I’m noticing a lot more loss, hair is darker mousey like my natural colour ( it was dyed reddish)and my head hurts ( on the top) I’m worried I’m going to lose on top and look like Friar Tuck.

  • Hi Csf. Sorry to hear what's happening. There are several current threads about hair loss with lots of info. You might want to talk to your hairdresser about a short cut which will cover any thinning and hair loss as much as possible.

Do think about getting a wig and a few chemo head scarves/hats to experiment with. It will be less of a 'shock' then if you do need to start using them.

Very best wishes for your treatment and a successful outcome. Sending love xxx

  • I have bought some "chemo" hats online and found them really useful. I didn't want a scarf I wanted something that didn't look obvious that I had cancer

The softness helps on the scalp and you can even get baseball style hats too, they've been brilliant especially in the hotter weather as they look like a regular hat (almost)

I found my hair started to thin between course 2 and 3 bit then slowed down, I'm also cold capping.
