Hi Everyone,

I am 3 weeks post chemo amd waiting to start radiotherapy in the next week or two. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal back in October. While in the shower this evening I discovered a lump in my other breast which is freaking me out a bit and I,m wondering what to do next. Has this happened to any of you? Could it be possible to develop another cancerous lump after doing chemo?

  • Really sorry this has happened to you. Definitely contact your breast care nurse or team to get it checked out. It may well be nothing, I developed a lump albeit longer after treatment than you’ve experienced and was really worried but it’s a cyst, hopefully yours is nothing too but don’t ignore it, all the best x

  • It really is so stressful and the last thing you need!!! I had exactly the same days after finishing chemo found a lump in the other breast and it was also a cyst, luckily i had an appt already the next day so didn't have too much waiting time but i know exactly how you are feeling, just get it checked asap and try not to worry too much!!! Xx

  • OK thank for that. I'm just waiting to hear back about an appointment now..hopefully early next week. Do you mind if I ask what your lump felt like? From what I read cysts are soft and moveable whereas what I am feeling is hard and doesn't move. I know I'm over analysing now! TIA

  • It didn't feel particularly soft and i can't actually remember if it was moveable but as soon as the surgeon examined it he was pretty sure it wasn't sinister!! but did send me for an ultrasound to confirm. But like you I  thought i've just had chemo if it was a tumour surely the chemo would have shrunk it and it's very soon for it to have grown to a size where you can feel it!!

  • That's exactly what I was thinking! OK that's reassured me somewhat.  Thanks a million

  • Hopefully it'll all be fine. Let me know how you get on. X

  • Will do thanks so much x
