Hello there, I am a little confused by my pathology results and wonder if anyone has had similar experiences and / or could help please? I had a mammogram recall a little while ago (microcalcification cluster in left breast). The subsequent vacuum assisted biopsy showed 6mm high grade DCIS. I have recently had a wide local excision (WLE) and the histology results show 10mm intermediate grade DCIS with 4mm clear margins. They are treating it as high grade and recommending five days radiotherapy. Has anyone had a pathology result that comes back with a grade less severe on the WLE histology and what subsequently happened? Thank you so much.
DCIS is ductal carcinoma in situ which I understand is the best kind to have as not aggressive/high reoccurrence which is why I am presuming they have not recommended chemo?
Does it not say specifically what grade?
Hello there, the initial biopsy came back high grade but the subsequent WLE excision histology came back intermediate grade. I was surprised that no high grade was found in the larger excision area that was removed. Anyone experienced this and what happened please?
