Hi,

I am 43 years old.i have found a lump in ny breast at the middle of December last year. I had mammogram and scan, biopsy and MRI and on 8th of Jan 2025 I have been told that I have tripple positive breast cancer and 50mm lump with 2 poitive limph nodes identified so far.It was terrable time.I was booked to start chemotherapy which is now due to start at 11th of March. (2 chemo drugs and 2 targetee drugs). And after this operation.

I am worried that it was too long wait until.starting treatment. I have noticed my skin over the lump starts getting a bit red.

Did somebody have similar diagnosis and experience. Is that waiting too long, will something get worse?- I have counted 62 days from full diagnosis until start of treatment. What was your experience?

Kind regards

Neda

  • Hi

i found a lump in my left breast on 3 April last year. Ultrasound, biopsy, mammogram etc. The result of the biopsy showed ER and PR positive and HER2 negative. So I had a lumpectomy, therapeutic mammoplasty and reduction on the right breast. That was on 23 May. However pathology showed that tumour was HER2 positive. This meant I would have to have chemotherapy. I had clear margins and no lymph node involvement. I started chemo on 12 August and finished on 10 December. I had radiotherapy in January. I am having Herceptin injections every 3 weeks and on letrozole for 5 years. I understand that our type of cancer does respond very well to treatment. I have had bad days and good days. I am now having great days and I feel fine. The NHS has been brilliant as far as my treatment is concerned. Good luck with your treatment. Some is harder than others, but it is doable. I am 62 by the way and no familial history of breast cancer.

  • Thank you for this.I have no family history either.I have been told that my type starts with chemotherapy and targeted therapy first.Just anxious about all this waiting!

Good luck to you too !
