Hi x I have finished 4 cycles of EC and on Monday had my first cycle of paxitel chemo. I am 45 and still having periods but these stopped during EC but today I have noticed that I think I might be starting my period. Is it normal to suddenly have a period whilst on chemo? Is it because I have changed regime maybe? I have read that they can be irregular but was just interested in other people’s experiences with this or whether this was something I needed to flag with my nurse. Thank you in advance for any insights and sending everyone a hug!
Hi
I’m 54 and had my first EC yesterday. It’s strange as I haven’t had a period since Oct but started one last Sunday! Was definitely heavier after yesterday. I was going to mention it when I see the Oncologist next week, was a bit worried with the hormones? as my cancer is hormone fed.
I’d mention it to the nurse, just to be on the safe side.
Hard to know what’s normal and what’s not?
Wonder if it’s the stress of starting another chemo?
How did you feel on EC? I felt like had a bad Hangover yesterday and this morning but feel ok now.
is this normal? Or is there worse to come?
Take care and big hugs back to you x
Hi Pepper79.
I finished 4 2 weekly EC 2 weeks ago and started my paclitaxel this afternoon.
I've been having my period every 2 weeks with EC! Can't remember if it's all four or maybe last 2. I called the helpline and they put my through to cancer card doctor who said it was a side effect due to how chemo is effecting your hormones and nothing to worry about unless they were heavier than normal. I'm hormone fed also.
Hopefully this changes with paclitaxel and bad enough dealing with chemo side effects!
Hope the rest of your treatment goes well xx
Hi NewJourney,
My nausea never really got worse with EC but I felt more tired after each one but would always have a decent week before my next EC.
I usually have one rubbish day then started to feel better.
Good luck with your treatment xx
Ah thank you, that’s positive.
I’m almost waiting for what next!
, I did feel rough yesterday and this morning, just like a bad hangover without the pleasure of having too many…. Was really tired today, but feel ok now.
Fingers crossed lol x
Thank you for replying, I will contact my BCN, she is always good at replying. I think it probably is the change to a new chemo. Mine is hormone fed. EC was ok, the main issue I had was feeling sick. I normally felt my worse on day 5/6/7 and then started to feel better for the last week. That said, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting so hopefully it is the same for you.
