I just finished my 3rd cycle of adjuvant EC chemo and due for the last cycle next week.
I found cycle 2 really hard and asked how vital cycle 4 as my first oncologist only wanted to do 3 and the second who is now my oncologist wanted to do 4.
I had an appointment with him today and he seemed to be saying I didn't have to do the 4th and if I did have recurrence, it wouldn't be because I didn't do no 4. He said I'm very resilient and haven't complained so that fact that I've asked us concerning for him.
It is my decision now whether to stop now or do the last chemo. I don't know how to decide. It seems to be a decision between something that will make you weaker, more tired and your recovery will be harder and can't tell you a benefit and or not doing it and starting recovery earlier but always wondering if this would have made a difference of it ever came back?
So lacking a crystal ball, I'm stumped.
What questions should in be asking to base my decision on?
Am I over thinking?
Hi BookMad my treatment diary is on my profile just click my name to read .
i was diagnosed in 2019 had MX then chemo . First plan was EC x 3 then a second one for 3 but plan changed to EC X 6.
EC is quite harsh and SE are cumulative ( I’m sure others are but only have experience of EC )
I spoke to onco after 3 and said still suffering from Se and no 4 due so she delayed no 4 by a week . So that could be an option for you .
She also offered after no 5 to cancel no 6 but I chose another weeks delay then completed no 6 . After no 6 I was advised by the team to remember the cycle was 21 days so start of recovery from chemo would start then .
personally like ricki I accepted whatever they asked so I could kick cancers butt !
If you read my diary you will see I had further treatments of Herceptin and bisphosonates
I’ve now passed 5 year mark and still free of cancer
wishing you well
