I had a severe reaction to adcal and have been told to get some Vitamin D. However, I don't know what I am looking for, because I didn't realise there were different doses, also such a massive range in prices.
Can anyone advise please?
Hi SusiQ , I buy my own calcium and vitamin D supplements - Vitabiotics Osteocare. If I didn’t, I’d be prescribed Adcal as I’ve got osteopenia and am on Anastrozole, which can cause bone thinning. But as you had a bad reaction to the Adcal, you’d want to know which element of it caused the reaction, I would have thought, before buying other supplements. Also, as I assume the Adcal was prescribed for you, couldn’t the doctor prescribe a suitable alternative? I think in your position I’d speak to my GP or to my local pharmacist for advice. Hope you can get this resolved. There’s also an Ask a nurse section on this site where you could ask this question. Love and hugs, HFxx
Adcal has fillers, a quality supplement shouldn't.
The best way to take Vitamin D3 is in liquid form with added Vitamin K2. It absorbs best this way. I get mine from Amazon and it's 4000 IU. The oncologist confirmed this was okay .
I also take calcium tablets. I think the brand is "pure". No fillers or nasties.
Unfortunately, on prescription , they will be the cheapest ones
