Hello all, I’m writing to ask if anyone in Scotland has had a post mastectomy (delayed) reconstruction in the last three years?
I’ve been having treatment for breast cancer, in Aberdeen, since January 2022 and was led to believe that I would have a delayed reconstruction once my treatment was complete. However, I have recently been told by a plastic surgeon that he has not carried out any delayed reconstructions since before Covid and that this is due to the Scottish government. This means that women are being added to a static waiting list.
It would be great to know if this is true for Scotland or just parts of Scotland and what the scale of the waiting list really is. Thanks
Hi olive oil
I have recently had a meeting with my surgeon with regards mastectomy and reconstruction. I was told that the wait for a delayed recon was at least 3 years due to Covid hence I have decided to to get the recon done at the same time I am based in Glasgow. So sorry you are still waiting x
