Hi I had my oncologist appointment 4 days ago to discuss radiotherapy and endocrine therapy.
I was there 2 hours and only really discussed the radiotherapy.
I have been given the option of having either 5 sessions plus 5 boosts or having 15 sessions plus the 5 boosts.
I really don't know what to do. If it was at my local hospital (22 mile round trip) where I see the consultant then I'd definitely go with the 20 but as it's at the hospital where I had surgery and is a 88 mile round trip I unsure what to do.
How have you all found it on either 10 or 20 sessions? Side effects, burns, tiredness etc
Many thanks

Hello, had my bilateral breast radiation starting in March 2022 and had 16 treatments to both but with a boost of 5 extra days to the right one. I had whole breast radiation. My radiation treatment center was only 4 miles from home. Did well and skin only got slightly pink. My nipples did hurt the first week of radiation and I did have some slight itchy feeling on occasion but was relieved with cortisone. I walked for exercise and did not have hardly any fatigue. I could have had the shorter course of 5 days with a 5 day boost but the 10 year results were not available although my surgeon said he thought either one would be fine. I needed whole breast radiation as I have small breasts snd the radiation oncologist said that the partial would be a whole for me.

I definitely don't want the centre one, I don't want a permanent daily reminder that I can see.
Plus I don't have any tattoos x
That's good to hear x
I'm fine, looking forward to seeing my son next week, I'm on count down now, 6 days to go, he's been abroad for 2 years.
Currently sat waiting for hubby to have his dressing changed on his thumb, tried to take his thumb off with a table saw
How's it going now, how are you feeling?
Collected son and girlfriend yesterday, tradmffic around Manchester airport was a nightmare.
Had a phone call whilst waiting for him from the hospital to book my first bone infusions for 17th October. He needed my height and weight. No explanation of what will happen, how long, how many, he told me I don't need to see anyone first as I was under the oncologist. Oncologist hadn't explained anything either.
When we got home my letter for the CT and planning appointment had arrived, that's on 25th September and 1st radiotherapy appointment on 8th October. I will have to cancel the bone infusions as I will be in the middle of radio treatment, 2 different hospitals.
I think I've more or less decided on the 15 plus 5 boosts.

I was given Flamigel at my first radiotherapy session and was told to apply it 3 times per day for as long as I the tube lasted, then to ask for more if needed.
