Has anyone changed hospitals during treatment?

Hello, I was diagnosed on 14th March with Invasive Lobular Cancer. I have been attending my local hospital.
I have a history of breast cysts and my GP and I thought the lump was a cyst so I asked to be referred to the closest hospital so that it could be drained. It turns out to be cancer.
I am now waiting for an MRI scan. I now really regret that I was not referred to the Royal Marsden Hospital that is still relatively easy to get to.
Has anyone any experience of changing hospitals after diagnosis and before treatment?
I'm worried that it will slow my treatment down but I'm also aware that they are a centre of excellence.
Any thoughts would be great

  • You can change at any time to another hospital. Go to the Marsen if that’s your preferred option. You do it  under the umbrella of patient choice and reason not required but you can say a centre of excellence with expertise not available locally.
