DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE OF HOW RADIOTHERAPY AFFECTS AN IMPLANT?
Sorry I can’t answer from experience but I’ve had that conversation with my BCN as I have implant and been told I’ll need radiotherapy due to close margins. She assured me that in four years she has seen very few complications, occasional shape change but nothing that would necessitate removal. I am about to start chemotherapy and will have radiotherapy after that to breast and axillary nodes.
Hope this helps and good luck for a successful outcome x
Hi, yes I had a mastectomy & immediate implant reconstruction. I thr had 15 radiotherapy sessions.
I was warned that there was a chance that the implant may be effected & need replacing, but that didn't happen. I did experience some contracture which is pretty common I understand with implants
Hope this helps
Best wishes x
