kidney damage

I’ve been having monthly blood tests ordered by oncology for the past year because I’m on Abemaciclib.  I’ve never had any results or communication about these tests from oncology.  Yesterday I had a gp medication review and for the first time ever, my blood test from 26th December was put on my gp records. This is because they used this as part of my gp review.

Now worried because this was reported in those results under the heading abnormal result

GFR calculated abbreviated MDRD (XaK8y) 45 mL/min/1.73m*2
Provided acute kidney injury has been excluded - this
eGFR is consistent with CKD stage G3a.  Nurse redo test in months.

i have not been advised by oncology that I have a kidney injury.

Has anyone else had this? and is it reversible?  Should I contact oncology

I hope you are all well  x

  • Hi, I believe that Abemaciclib can cause temporary effects on kidney function but it reverses once the drug has stopped. Give one of the chemo nurses a ring, I’m sure they will be able to reassure you as the results will have also gone to them.

  • Thank you Shade, the word temporary is reassuring.  I just don’t like the words kidney injury and stage 3a. I think I must contact the oncology nurse.
    best wished to you x
