Cording in Breast

Hi - I had my lumpectomy and SLNB on December 7th but have now developed cording in my breast.  It shows more when I lift my arm up.  It runs from the biopsy site under my arm down to nipple.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I’ve googled this (as you do) and it seems to be Mondor Disease.  I’ve called the breast care nurses but they’re not available today.  Thank you

  • Hi Janey25, I experienced cording along my arm and under my armpit after my lumpectomy and axillary clearance. I found by dining the exercises I was given it did disappear. I also use my arm as normal now and have had no further cording. Great you have rung your breast care nurses they will be able to get back to you and also offer advice on what to do as there maybe some other exercises for that particular cording.
    Wishing you all the best

  • Yes, I had cording in my rib cage. Was referred to physio who helped. Might be worth asking if they think this might help as they don’t often think to refer to outside agencies.

  • Had cording myself and it was all sorted with gentle exercise and massage - google doctor is something that doesn't always give the right information as there are so many reasons for things happening which seem to have the same symptoms.  I would imagine the BC nurse will say the same about exercise as it is important after surgery although it did not stop me getting it, everyone is different.  Trust in your BC Team and try not to google, after all the BC team are qualified and a lot of google is mis information from 'experts' which leads to anxieties and worrying unnecessarily. Hope you can work through it and it goes reasonably soon for you. Most of all, try not to worry, ask questions of your team and follow their advice x
