Hello everyone
I have recently had a dexa scan has anyone else has this?
trying not to get stressed out!
Thank you
I’m having my scan tomorrow. . I m taking Anastrozole which can compromise your bone density. My oncologist also prescribed me vitamin D and calcium tablets to help.
I'm due to have this in January. Its to keep an eye on potential osteoporosis as the biphosphonates can cause bone issues
Thank you I am trying to stop being so nervous all the time! X
Had one myself after radiotherapy (breast surgery) and being on Anastrozole they check on osteoporosis as others have said. Although it gives you anxiety with the waiting for the result, like waiting for anything I guess, . To be honest, I am 68 and with mild arthritis so was expecting a poor bone density result, which it was (I have osteoperosis) so am now on a weekly Alendronic Acid pill and calcium tabs (with vitamin D included in it). I have no side effects and been on them for 3 months now. A friend of mine on the other hand had no sign of Osteoperosis - not everyone has the same outcome so try not to stress in the meantime and enjoy the Christmas festivities xx
Hi Jax007 - it is worth saying that the calcium and Vitamin D are not the bog standard vitamins from over the counter, they are prescribed (at least for me) so when if you get to that stage (and you may not) it's not about using the over counter supplements. x.
