Hi everyone

I was just wondering how often you see your oncologist?

I am a nervous wreck at the moment and just checking.

Current just over halfway through chemo

 hugs to everyone

  • I have not been seeing my oncologist face to face during chemo, but she or one of the team calls me every 3 weeks to let me know whether I can go ahead with my next 21 day cycle (based on my blood test results).
I don’t know what to expect about how much contact I will have with her once chemo is over.

  • Hi Hedera

     thanks for replying .

I’ve had 3 EC and just had docetaxil then two left.

    Been struggling.

     Hope u r ok xx

  • It is certainly a struggle isn’t it.  I don’t know about you but sometimes it feels completely rubbish and other times it feels more manageable, but overall it is very very testing xx

  • I think psychologically tough personally speaking.

    I’ma nervous wreck.

  • Would you consider talking to the MacMillan support line - it might help?
I have read that if we voice our fears it can take some of the power out of them.  I do find this to be true myself. Xx

  • Aw so sorry to hear that..it is worrying…

I paid a few visits to my local Maggie’s Centre - do you have one near you Jax? They are absolutely amazing there & so welcoming…you can just turn up & have a cuppa & a chat… or as Hedera says there is the MacMillan helpline too xx

there are also loads of Apps that show you breathing techniques etc too..x   I’m on no 5 of docetaxel tomorrow (out of 6).. then another scan on 19th so can see end of chemo tunnel and you will too before you know it!!

    Sending you hugs!

  • Unfortunately no Maggie’s near me.
I’m going to have a chat with psychological service this week hopefully.

I managed to overcome my other mental health issues and then got diagnosed.

I’ve downloaded a relaxation /anti anxiety app which is really great at the moment. Try to do a guided relaxation every evening.

     Sending you hugs back xx

  • Yes talking helps. Find myself often struggling to find anyone to talk to as don’t want to upset or depress anyone.

  • Aw I’m sure they wouldn’t feel like that. ..& that’s why this forum is great so keep chatting on here too..x

is there anything specific that’s worrying you or is a general anxiety about it all?

  • General anxiety, fear, overthinking, mainly scared of spread recurrence.
Had lots of reassurance from professionals but got myself into anxious state!
I think it’s because I don’t like the feeling of lack of control over my body and life. Just going through hard patch emotionally.

Sorry, I know we are all going through a hard time x
