Hi. Just had my lumpectomy on Friday. All fine until last night when I noticed a large haemotoma pooled on my breast. Not sore or hot and will call my breast care nurse today. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar and did it need treatment??
Hi, I had a haematoma the day after my lumpectomy and it did need treatment. The breast care team will be able to give the best advice. Wishing you all the best.
Hi, yes, I got a haematoma the day after my first surgery four weeks ago. I had to have more surgery last week so they dealt with it then and I'm much more comfortable now. Just trying to take it very easy to prevent a reoccurrence. Talk to your Breast care nurse, they'll be able to advise you. X
Hi thank you the clinic saw me yesterday urgently and they were happy the bleeding had stopped and would disperse on its own. Back for follow up next week so he will check it again then. Instructions to phone them if it swells or gets hard. Just a bit worried now the effect on the breast tissue as I have heard the blood kills off the breast tissue.
Hi Marthashouse , I had a large haematoma after my lumpectomy. Like you I was seen in clinic and they felt in my case best to leave alone, but keep an eye on it. I did go back every few days for a week or so, and they were happy that it was slowly sorting itself out. Didn’t need any treatment in the end, just slowly resolved. But don’t hesitate to contact them if you’re at all concerned. Mine looked really horrible, combination of the haematoma , bruising and the blue dye. But no long term effects that I’m aware of. It’s over 5 years now since all that was going on but I do remember how anxious it made me feel. You just want things to be straightforward. Good to be vigilant and call them if any worries.
