Hi all

I’m new - just had first dose ECT chemo a week ago. I have reacted quite badly with EXTREME fatigue. I could barely speak a couple of days ago and still very weak. Is this normal? Im absolutely dreaSlight smileng the next bout. I’m being seen in clinic before next lot as I’ve been so poorly. I just wondered if anyone else had this experience and what happened? Slight smile

  • Hi Regs, I had EC-T. Whilst I felt tired I didn’t have extreme fatigue. I did feel very out of sorts and I called the emergency helpline. I was told what I was feeling was normal.
I would give the helpline a call and discuss everything. They will be able to run through everything and give you advice.
Try to drink plenty of water and eat little and often - a bit of something you enjoy. I didn’t worry about eating particularly healthy all the time.
It is hard going at times and everyone is unique and feels side effect differently.
    Wishing you all the best.

  • Hi Regs, everyone reacts differently to chemo. I coped ok with the EC but I was totally wiped out by the docetaxel. I found my bodies reaction was worse after first dose of docetaxel and although I didn’t feel great after the second and third dose it wasn’t as bad. Wishing you all the best with the rest of your treatment.

  • My dose was reduced because of a similar reaction. I don’t know about you, but there were three days in my cycle when I would not have been able to look after myself at home, and my family were worried about me. I could go to the toilet by myself, but that was all. Like you I could hardly speak.
the oncologist reduced my dose, and I know that this is an option for people.
I think it is really important to be honest and accurate when reporting side-effects. I hope you are listened to. X
