Hi everyone, my mum has breast cancer - the second time now, this time it has been found in a lymph node. She had MRI and CT scans on Friday morning and afternoon and her surgeon had told her she would have to wait a couple of weeks for the results of the scans, which she would receive from the oncology team.
Today (Monday) they rang her for an appointment to go down to speak to the oncology team tomorrow. This means, the rang her the next working day after her scans - this seems very fast and we are quite concerned at the speed in which they want to see her, it makes it feel very urgent and you cannot help but worry that it is bad news. Any experiences? Thank you x
Hi nnn0015
I'm sorry I can't offer any advice as mine hasn't spread to lymph node. However, your post has dropped to the second page and by answering I'm bringing it back to the top of page one, in the hope that someone will be around who can help you.
Kindest Wishes, Lesley
Hi
Sorry nto jump in on post about a month and half ago I noticed hard lump in my right breast eventually got an appointment with the doctor who gave me antibiotics for a week never worked then another lot after still didn't work then referred me to the breast clinc went last Wednesday she says was an abscess or that went for mammogram then went for the ultra sound was there for about an hour when they says that they noticed some abnormalities they took 3 biospys. And told me not to worry that there was plenty of treatments available these days. Also have a lump under my arm pit I then had to go for a ct with the dye on Sunday it's really doing my head in waiting I've got appointment to see them on the 19th but I phoned today and they says some results aren't back yet and next Monday they do the mdt talk I'm think the worst as the pain in my breast is killing me and its not tiny either full length of the breast I'm only 35. It seems along time away till 19th will they fone me after they've had the discussion or do I need to wait till the 19th?
Hi please try to not worry too much. (Which is a silly thing to say, I know) the waiting is awful, every possibility goes through your mind and you feel low.
We had to wait 4 weeks before biopsy results as there was a backlog from covid - it was horrible!
Maybe give them a ring and explain you’re very worried. They are always able to give you some advise even if you still have to wait.
They text my mum after the MDT but that was because she didn’t have an appointment to discuss the biopsy results with them, so the text was just go give an appointment.
feel free to chat to me whenever if you just want to let it alll out!
Thank you for getting back to me. I just feel at a total loss at the minute I don't know how to feel or what to think. I phoned them today and they just says results weren't in yet (some) and they would be discussing my case on Monday coming I went for all the stuff on Wed and by sat I had recieved the letter to go back in on the 19th. Its just everything she was saying on Wednesday indicated that there was something sinister there like telling me not to worry there is plenty of treatments available now. My heads in a mess and everyone keeps telling me not to worry but that's easier says than done lol
Hi just to say that my biopsy results took a long time too, some were back pretty quick and others took over 3 weeks and my consultant told me that it’s because of how they are developed in the lab and it just does take a while. So that may not help but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad.
the waiting is truly awful and I remember not sleeping at all in that time. Fingers crossed you get them back soon. X
Hi Maggie1988
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you are waiting on a breast cancer diagnosis. Waiting around for results to come back is a worrying time but once your results come back things should start to get easier for you. They don't like to discuss results until they've had all the information back and they discuss time at the mdt meeting. They use the meeting to come with with the best treatment plan for your type of breast cancer.
They are right in that there are lot's of treatments for breast cancer and they keep coming up with new treatments all the time. Even since I was diagnosed over three years ago new treatments have been discovered.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results when they come through.
Best wishes
