Hi everyone,
I wonder if any of you ladies have had any issues with implant scars after they've healed? I had a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with an implant in June and everything healed well. Finished my chemo last Friday and this morning noticed a small ( about roughly the size of a matchstick head or just a bit bigger) scab on the incision line about a centimeter or so above the t section. I've inspected further after my shower and it's definitely a small hole. I've cleaned it with a sterile wound wipe and covered it with a dressing. I wonder what could have caused it?! No previous problem with the scar. I don't have a temperature and it's not red or swollen. I'll call my breast care nurse on Monday, but just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar or late onset wound issues.
There's me hoping for a worry-free weekend for a change! Thanks in advance.
Xx
Hi there, I've not had this type of issue although my scar is still aching from time to time and quite numb. Sounds like it's not an infection, if you're feeling ok, no fever etc, so calling your nurse tomorrow is probably what I would do. Best wishes
I had no issues with my lumpectomy scar initially but then on first week of 1st chemo cycle I developed an abcess which was interesting as it decided to burst when I was sat waiting for doc to have a look at hospital. Keep your eye on it and keep an eye on your temperature. Give your breast care team a call - they might want to take a look and take some swabs
Thanks for the advice re swaps. I'm keeping it covered for now and will be seeing the breast care nurse on Tuesday. They only attended my local hospital 1 day per week. It doesn't seem any worse but it's just odd it's appearing now. I'm wondering if I just accidentally rubbed it sore on bra. It's tricky when it's all numb. Absess doesn't sound a lot of fun. I hope all is well with you and not freezing in this cold spell xx
All good with me. Just back after a holiday which I needed.
