hi everyone, massive wobble, feels like just got real, so went back after mastectomy done and lymph nodes taken, they came back positive despite not showing up on initial ultrasound. so at the breast clinic they was saying chemo then radiotherapy, was told he small lump was a 2 not 1 when they removed the breast. just trying to take all this in, then after fridays appointment, literally yesterday got text for ct scan next monday, and anothe call ref radioactive dye, then bone scan this thursday. so overwhelmed, partly that they have jumped on this so fast, but then my head is saying is it that bad that they have to. dont have a new oncology appointment, assume these results will be discussed when the appointment comes through, terrified of the hair loss and looking even less of a woman, can hardly bear to look at the scar.
its all happened so quick since routine mammogram recall, and i am so grateful that i am on their radar, but so terrified, we have never had any dealings with cancer, go from fearing the worst, to not feeling anything. trying to keep it together for me and the husband. any one have any tips, advice that has been here, got the t-shirt xx
thank you all
Hi there. I’m so sorry you are going through this.
I am very very low at the moment so maybe not best to give lots of tips but just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone.
I had mastectomy in July, 1/5 positive lymph nodes, 3 lumps in all and just had 2nd chemo.
others will be able to give advice I’m sure and I’m sorry I can’t except to say that I’m thinking of you and you’re not alone.
X
Hi wicky
I am sorry to hear that there was cancer in the lymph nodes that your surgeon took during surgery. It's good that they have arranged your CT and Bone scans so quickly. It may have been explained to you already that those scans are to check for spread. I had to have a CT scan and a bone scan after my operation in May and my breast care nurse already had them booked for me before my results appointment so I too had the scans very quickly and I was glad that I did as the CT scan picked up something wrong with the scar tissue in my left breast from a previous breast cancer. But other than that my CT and Bone scans were clear.
What you are feeling is perfectly natural. You go through a rollercoaster of emotions while undergoing treatment. What I find usually helps is doing things that I love, like going for a walk or reading a good book.
Wishing you the best of luck with the scans and with whatever comes next for you.
Best wishes

I was very similar. Routine mammogram June 2021, mastectomy and 3 lymph nodes removed. 1 lymph node positive and found to be her2.
Like you I was suddenly told ct scan and bone scan needed. They reassured me that if a node is found positive they like to do the scans just to check and aren’t expecting to find anything but it seems to be procedure . It was a very scary, stressful time.
I finished chemo December 2021 and used the coldcap to save my hair. My hair thinned and continued to thin for a bit after treatment but never felt the need to wear a wig. I finished with 3 weeks of radiotherapy in Feb 2022…..now out the other side of treatment and can’t really believe it all happened.
It’s good that they are organising scans and moving things forward for you. I found the waiting was the worst. There’s lots of really good information on here about how to prepare for chemo. X
