Hi

ive been quite quiet n this forum but getting more nervous now and feel it’s be nice to chat to others in the same position.

I’ve had two surgeries lumpectomies and lymph node removal, positives are it hasn’t spread, negatives are I now am thought to need chemo and radiotherapy (was originally just radiotherapy)

I suppose I just wanted to know what the first meeting with oncologist is like and how soon after do they start chemo? I also have epilepsy so if anyone else has gone through chemo and epileptic drugs please do comment.

Thankyou for reading if you got this far

rachel

  • Hi Rachel, I had the same surgery with lumpectomy but just lymph node biopsy in September, and first oncologist appointment on Monday. So I have no experience to share but would also be interested on the replies. Who told you that your treatment plan has changed and now needing chemotherapy? I’ve been told that the oncologist is the person to speak to, so have started making a list of questions! I’ve left messages for the breast care nurses to contact me, so I could ask about the oncotype test, but they haven’t returned my calls. So I’ve added this onto my list! When is your oncologist appointment? I’m assuming there will people on here who can advice you and answer any questions for you x

  • Hi Thankyou for your reply, it was after my second op and the lump being 4cm not 2cm that my surgeon said I was suggested to have chemo (after getting results of my onotype test).
hopfully all will go well for you on Monday x yes taking notepad with questions is a good idea.

let me know how it goes xx

  • Will do. If I can give you some ideas on questions I will x if I manage to get through my long list! X

  • Bless you Thanku , I havnt made any questions but am taking a pad and pen so I can write afew things down. Also have my parents going with me so thatl help.
