Hi,
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer stage 1; ER+ PR+, Her2 negative, last week. I’m having my op for lumpectomy next week and had injection of dye for lymph node removal and biopsy. Today a mag seed inserted. Later radiotherapy and hormone therapy.
I know I’m lucky that they caught it early thanks to breast screening but I’ve felt so weepy today and yesterday. I was weepy when the bus was late and I thought I was going to be late for my appointment; in the waiting room I kept welling up. I managed to hold it together during the procedure but started crying after in the waiting room when my very caring breast nurse asked me if I was ok.
I haven’t cried at my other appointments and I think maybe it’s because I came off HRT over the 2 weeks while waiting for results and so have been without for about a week. Anyone else had this reaction to coming off HRT or maybe it’s just the whole stress of it all.
Hi Celie
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry that you were diagnosed with breast cancer. The weepiness is no doubt a combination of coming off HRT and the stress of it all. The time waiting between diagnosis and surgery can seem long and no matter how early they've caught it you've still been diagnosed with breast cancer and it's a shock at first. Things should improve once you have the surgery over and done with and you start the next phase of your treatment.
Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery.
Best wishes
