Hello everyone hope you are all ok xx
I started Adjuvent EC chemotherapy last week. Just beginning to feel a little less sickly and just wondered if anyone else is due to have adjuvant or has started ?
Getting sad, I live alone so keep spiralling!
They told me that I was cancer free after mastectomy which was amazing but needed this treatment x
Hi - this is me too - I was told I was cancer free but they suggested it would be advantageous to have - like my life insurance. I’ve completed 3 EC sessions and moving over to Docetaxel for 3 sessions. I’ve also been advised to have 15 sessions of radiotherapy and Hormone Therapy (Letrozole). X
My first couple of sessions I had a thick head, constipated and lack of sleep for the first weeks - both these sessions I used the cold cap. This time as I had lost my hair I didn’t use it and I seem to be much improved this 3rd session, though I may need to pop into the hospital tomorrow as the dressing for my picc-line appears slightly ripped. X
I had the cannula for my first but was booked in the week b4 the 2nd session which was a bonus as my blood check was a struggle and they had to do it again as my levels weren’t too great with my white blood cells.
I did feel very dizzy the 1st session but took the anti sickness meds for 3 days to be on the safe side.
I have my off days too & loosing my hair was one of those - I had already been in contact with a wig lady so set up another appointment & came out with a wig last week - it was so nice to feel more like me
Aim for week 3 to go out & see friends or neighbours & eat lots of cake ! That’s the week it’s safer to be out and about x
Keep busy - Watch box sets or read or do jigsaws - rest was vital for me the first week as I found if I overdid stuff I would end up in bed - lesson learnt.
Work have been great & they just want me to get better so I’m off on sick leave despite my offer of working from home - we just have video calls to catch up x
I know it can be hard to stay strong and positive- as my friends say take one day at a time & keep smiling xx
I too was told I was cancer free after lumpectomy but oncotype score meant chemo was recommended so I had 4 cycles ec and three cycles docetaxel. Then after a break 20 sessions of radiotherapy. It was a shock but I don't regret going through with it and fortunately it wasn't as bad as I feared.
