Hi There, hope you are all doing ok. x
I had surgery just over 4 Weeks ago on left breast for Ductal , grade 2 lump, invasive - yes. It was for a wide incision Lumpsectomy buts looks llike a big area was taken. Lots of stitches all underneath and all up one side. I think they moved the nipple up also and a mammoplasty. I have some pain in both shoulder blades at the top of my back and am still pretty bruised all over breast. Is this normal after 4 weeks? Like a fool I have gone back to work , maybe too soon with this shoulder blade pain, both sides and still sore. I have quite large breasts.
Any advice or has anyone shared a similar experience, pain please? Thank you
Hi Fizzler, I can’t remember how long I was bruise for. I had 2 ops one lumpectomy and sentinel node and then an axillary clearance. Both I was heavily bruised but I think by week 4 of the first op it was all healed and hardly noticeable. The second op was a bit longer as it was more invasive. I didn’t go to work until I had had my 3rd round of chemo so all in all I had about 4 months off for recovery. You are very brave going back after 4 weeks. Everyone’s recovery rate is different. I took it slow and steady and judged things by how I felt. I would have thought the bruising would have subsided. The pain can linger and I was uncomfortable for a long time. Even now 1 year down the line I still get days where I’m more uncomfortable, but to be sure it’s worth having things check with your surgeon. They will be able to check all is healing ok and give you peace of mind.
Wishing you all the best,
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
I had veey similar 3 weeks ago. Very bruised still and muscle tire quickly when moving around a lot. Can now feel bumps where scar tissue underneath, would healed but stitches not dissolved as yet. I find my back hurts because I’m not standing straight/ hunching a little and fond the shoulder exercises that the physio gave me help a lot . Find my armpit hurts a lot still and get wierd scratching feeling half way down my arm. I think all is normal and just stitching settling . I came back to work today, but avoiding lifting as I have a very physical job. Managing but very tired so probably. Bit early. Hope yours settles dodn soon. If not i woukd ring your nurse to check as I am sure they would rather chat than have you worry xx
