Hi all,  I wanted to share my good news today.  I got all clear margins this time, I am so pleased and relieved.  It’s  time to celebrate.  Grinning Tada.  Still have to see the radiologist, but he will decide if I still need radiotherapy.  Hopefully not.  Start the Letrozole tablets tomorrow for 5 years.  All in all such good news.  Take care Ladies and best of luck with your treatments.  Xx

  • Hi Orchid23 so so pleased to hear this news and celebrating with you. At least thats one part of the journey done and wishing you all the best for any treatment that may still be to come. Thank you for sharing your good news with us, deiighted for you. x

  • Yeah and so glad.  I think most of the time radiation goes along with lumpectomy unless you are over 70 but then they need to consider all the health factors before deciding but today is for celebrating.  Barbara

  • Hi Barbara,  you were right, I will be having Radiotherapy now, after the doctors being indecisive as to if I required it or not. I will be having the 5 day course instead of the 3 weeks, which is good.  Have started on the Letrozole as well, it is ok.  Take it at night as I find it easier to cope with the hot flushes and aching joints better then.  So on we go….  Hope you are keeping well xx

  • So glad that you are getting radiation as it is a layer of protection.  Also means after it you are really done with treatment unless you need hormone blockers or Her2 treatment.  I am about 18 months post radiation and still do my daily breast massage as I know radiation causes scar tissue as well as the lumpectomy.  It really helps any discomfort and if I don’t do it for awhile I can feel mild discomfort.  I have a video if you want to see how it is done.  It is from a  Florida radiation facility and very well done.  I also take two Brazil nuts daily for selenium as I like a food source.  Hope all goes smoothly with radiation and hugs to you.

  • Thank you Barbara,  yes I am glad I am having the radiotherapy now.  I never thought I would be saying that Slight smileIt played on my mind for weeks, (if it was the decision from them to not have it).  I think it is something to do with new guidelines from NICE, when lumps are very small and grade 1. But at least the radiologist said it was better to have it than not.  The video sounds good on the breast massage.  Could you send me a link to it please?   I like the idea of Brazil nuts. I love those.  Hugs to you xx

  • Hi Orchid23,  I also hated the idea of having radiation but after much discussion with surgeon and radiation oncologist I made an informed decision that seemed right for me.  Lots of kicking and screaming on my part for awhile!!  Here is the link for the massage.  It is on YouTube https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uRlGXeOcJno

it is excellent and easy to do.  Take care and heal well.
