Hello
I was diagnosed a few weeks ago now. I am her2 -ve. Oestrogen receptive and 2 lumps on rhs, one is 33mm and grade 1 but waiting on other biopsy. The other tutor is smaller but been advised mastectomy is likely way forward. On the other side I have a 18mm grade 2 of similar type but a nurse said it was lobular. Need to ask more about that. I have option of double mastectomy and matching implants with possibility they can save nipples. Or tummy flap on rhs and lumpectomy and breast reduction on left. I am going round in circles. Anyone had similar? Or what do you think of your boobs post op with either option ?
H, I didn't have to make such a decision myself, but I all feel for you, it must be so difficult to know what is for the best. I also noticed you've not had any replies yet, as the site is quite busy. My response will bump you to the top of the list again this morning and I hope someone with the right experience will be along soon. Best wishes
Hi JP16, I am currently going through this dilemma. Considering bilateral mastectomies and DIEP. I have triple -ve Bc in 1 breast and with a BRCA1 gene mutation,, considering bilateral mastectomies to reduce risk of Bc in the other breast.
Such a big decision!
I wish you well and just wanted to say I know what you're going through x
Thank you Maisie33 It’s such a hard decision. I am waiting on genetics also and if positive my surgeon said would recommend both off. I only have enough tummy for one boob. So am back to thinking two implants. I have meeting tomorrow which may shed more light l. I get the sense they aren’t going to wait on genetics. I understand the challenge, it’s hard to know what to do for the best. Having spent time with the breast nurse today I am not sure the Diep is for me. Even though there is a huge amount of positive support for it. I’m not sure my tummy is big enough. Good luck. And thank you for replying to my message.
