Tamoxifen supply problems?

I started on tamoxifen last year, and found that the Milpharm brand suited me. Great. A few months later and Milpharm vanishes. I try a few others, and find that Tillomed is also okay for me. That's also fine for a few months. Now, surprise surprise, that has also vanished from the wholesalers. My pharmacists only have Relonchem, which is the worst for me. I feel awful when I take it, but it's better than the alternative. Is anyone else having issues? I used to have a choice of brand, and now it seems to be whatever they can source.

  • Hi Lux_lu, I was on Mylan brand which I found suited me. I have found it more difficult to get hold of and have got the same brand as you. I too find I react more with this one. I feel sick with it and more achy. I haven’t yet tried any other brands but I am going to speak with my pharmacy and see what other brands they stock and give them a go. I know they did say they would add the ones that are ok for me to a list so when I need more they will try and get one of the ones that works for me. I think the pharmacy can only get what’s on offer at the time they order which I think is a shame. They should be able to get the brand that works for the patient. Persevere and I hope you manage to find another one that works for you.

  • Hi, that's so frustrating. It might be worth asking if your GP can specify a brand on your prescription. I have heard of some people doing that, best wishes

  • I'm not on tamoxifen but anastrazole. And I too am having supply issues. First lot were fine second lot were awful so I asked for original.  Got them last prescription but now have a different brand again despite requesting.
