Both during this 2nd cycle of EC chemotherapy, and my last cycle I have had several horrible days and nights where sleep and wakefulness just seem to roll into one period of not being able to be asleep properly and not being able to be awake properly. It is really horrible and feels like mental torture, especially through the night.
Has anyone used to sleeping tablets to get a better sleep rhythm?
does anyone use them regularly? Thank you.
I haven't had chemo just surgery, radiotherapy and Tamoxifen. I have had broken sleep for years though. If it's that bad I would be taking something. My GP prescribed Zolpidem, you can only take it times each week, it's addictive. Nytol non herbal is
another thing I have. Melatonin can help you get off to sleep and it's something that is a natural product. Lack of sleep is the worse thing, for me it stops me being able to function.
They should be able to prescribe for you I feel. Fingers crossed you get some sleep soon. X
The steroids wreak havoc with our sleep wake cycle. I can remember sleepless nights too. You could ask your team if you can reduce your steroid dose on your next cycle. You could think or ask your GP or team about melatonin at night, or something else, to get you through the worst days.
