I am currently on Tamoxifen and suffering with severe hot flushes.  Do these continue during the full treatment or will they get better?

  • Hi NikkiB, I have found my hot flushes have been worse during the hot weather. I have been on tamoxifen since May. I tend to take my tablet at night and it does seem to help reduce the the number of flushes during the day as I seem to then get more overnight. I hope over time it will get better but I don’t know. Hopefully someone who has been on tamoxifen for a longer period will be along soon to advise. I am on the Mylan brand at the moment, but my next 3 months are a different brand. Maybe a different brand will have different effect. Fingers crossed

  • Hello, I am sorry about the hot flashes as they can be a real pain.  I live in Florida and OMG this summer has been so hot and humid that my hot flashes are more frequent.  Not totally unbearable but at 74 years old I think I should be exempt from having them.  I am going to try Swedish flower pollen as I have read that can help to reduce them.  It is non estrogen so safe for us.  There is a product but only available in the US so I am sure you would have something similar.  I am on Anastrazole not tamoxifen but those hot flashes are side effect of both.
    So anxious for cooler weather.

  • Hi I've just bought a neck fan from Amazon. Evening hot flushes at bedtime the worst. Stops me falling asleep. Xx

  • Hi. I've been on Tamoxifen for 18 months. I've had hot flushes since the start, but nothing too bad. Fast forward to this heatwave and they've been awful. Much more frequent and much more intense. Also horrible night sweats which I've nit experienced before. Really hoping it all calms down as the weather cools off..

  • I hope they getting better with the cooler weather for all of us, I have literally been dripping wet

  • I am on Exemestane and at 74 am getting more hot flushes than when I went through the memo pause! My flush is often preceded by a spasm in my groin. Although for me unpleasant it's bearable as I don't seem to get night sweats and it is short lived. Worse is the increased joint pain and weight gain. Good Luck to all. x
