Hi, I have had 4 rounds of EC chemotherapy, and these last few weeks I have noticed a smell around me, everything smells, my skin, my bowels, even my urine, all seem to have the same smell, am I going mad or is it normal. It is really getting me down even though my family say they can't smell anything.

  • Hello Pooh bear

I think when I was on EC I thought the same. However, I think it might be that actually it is your sense of smell which is distorted. Mine took a long long time to return to normal-ish. Still I don't smell things exactly as I did before even although it is more than two years since I finished EC.

Try not to worry about it. Your family obviously don't smell a problem.

    Good luck getting past this.

    All the best

  • Funnily enough that is what my husband said, it was my sense of smell. Thank you. X

  • I saw a YouTube video and the lady having chemo had the same side effect. She suggested buying one of those essential oil diffusers to help.

I Had EC and now having paclitaxol and I have noticed a smell , like a sweet smell.

  • it is also probably lack of nose hairs i notice some smells more now

  • Hi

I had a warped sense of smell mainly throughout EC but through taxol too . I thought I smelled really strange and actually I think I did because our bodies are being pumped with these meds / toxins and that’s gonna change things ! I used to ask my husband if I smelled weird all the time haha
now my keen sense of smell is back and seems mainly normal Joy

    xx

  • That's what I am thinking, it's all the toxins, I keep asking my husband, but he always tells me I don't smell, but he would say that. Ha ha
