Hi, I've just finished 7 cycles of chemo and met with the breast surgeon yesterday to discuss surgery options. I have Paget's disease of the nipple, a tumour on the side of my breast and lymph node involvement. My nipple tumour has shrunk to 5mm and the other tumour has disappeared. The surgeon has said that I will need half of my breast removed and will be left very lopsided or I can have a mastectomy. I want immediate reconstruction if possible as I know I won't cope well with a prosthesis. I'm not keen on an implant either so the surgeon has suggested a DIEP flap reconstruction. I really don't know what to do. Has anyone had this done with good results? I'd be grateful for any feedback about this procedure.
Thank you X
Hi Rainbowrose
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer. While I don’t have experience of the procedure you are talking about I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I reply to you to welcome you to the community. This reply will move you to the top of the discussion. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with the experience you are looking for.
Best of luck with the surgery.
Best wishes
