Dear all,
Oh well, I have cancer again, I rather sit in the cinema and watch the whole filmography of Goddard plus interviews, that have to deal with this terror again.
Today, I have had an appointment with the surgeon. It appears that I have DC and DCIS?, what a wonderful duet. Fortunately, no nodes or vascular invasion. Grade
The full pathology report is not ready yet, apparently, it takes longer, although this wasn’t my experience the first time I was diagnosed. I don’t know yet the hormone status, HER of triple-negative. Is this normal?
The cancer is in my scar tissue, what a lovely place!. During the inspection, the oncologist pointed out that on the other side, under the armpit there was an enlarged lymph node contrary to my mood, she was optimistic and said she was not concerned about it but I will have it checked. Also, I will have bone scans, lungs, and liver for possible mets. Good, what a nightmare!
The surgeon told me that bcs of my prior radiation therapy, the conservative surgery was not possible and I would have a mastectomy if I want reconstruction she advised me to have it for my stomach tissue area and no implants due to previous cancer history. However, I must admit, that the thought of a mastectomy terrifies me as it is a big surgery, and saying farewell to body parts isn’t exactly my cup of tea.
I am terrified. I am been seeing at St. Bartholomew’s, any experiences with this hospital?
Any comments welcome
Truly yours,
WildBreast
HI wild beast,
so sorry you find yourself here again! I totally sympathise, I am in the same position as you, diagnosed today after 31 years cancer free, a new primary in the same breast. Not full results yet only grade 2 and 4cm. Awaiting hormone status, CT, MRI etc. Also Mastecomy for the same reasons. Here we go again! Can't help you with the hospital, I think some of the best are snowed under. I was originally at the Marsden, had a hiccup some years back and they did tests and kept me on until aged 60, 67 now. They said I could go back anytime if I had problems, but I live on the Isle of Wight now, and I must admit my local hospital has been spot on, so may stay with them. Bartholomews I thought was a good hospital? Either way, sadly we are on a path that neither of us expected to be on again! Stay strong x
Hi Cosmo,
Yes, Thank you for your reply and I am really sorry to hear about your situation. What about your lymph nodes
the surgeon said she was concerned but I have been reading some medical research on contralateral lymph nodes and I just started to panic even more, I will request an MRI as she mentioned she thought it was not necessary but I don't share her views.
A huge hug and all the best
Wild
i had my diagnosis and surgeries at Barts, it was fine. i liked the ultrasound tech, very honest, my surgeon was good, she actually called me personally when i had to go back for second surgery and after with the all clear, also nice because they have dedicated building, and a maggies around the corner, not much running from place to place. although you walk to main building underground for surgeries.
hold good thoughts for your new round of aaghhh many hugs
Hi WildBreast
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have breast cancer again. It can sometimes happen that you have a breast clinic appointment before all the results are back. Like you my cancer came back in my scar tissue and I'm waiting to have surgery to remove the lump.
Wishing you the best of luck with your operation and with the rest of your results.
Best wishes
