Hi is anyone taking Anastrozole and dealing with menopausal symptoms? What do you take to help alleviate the symptoms as I understand I can’t have HRT? Thank you
Mostly I've had to just get on with them! I was pre-menopausal when diagnosed and was put into a sudden (& intense) menopause during chemo, ad then put onto exemestane on top. I do the usual things for hot flushes/night sweats - dress in layers, have a hand fan and a fan in the bedroom. I did use the chillow pillows for a while too.
I found I was still struggling with my mood swings and not feeling like myself, so after a couple of years, went on to a low dose anti-depressant. That has really helped my mood, and my sleep. There aren't that many options for people with hormone positive BC.
I have also stayed working from home - I don't think I could cope with a commute and being in an office all day with the amount of fatigue I still have, not to mention endless hot flushes. I can cope well at home.
Thank you. That’s really helpful. I might contact the doctor to see what she recommends. It’s the low mood that I find tough.
Yes the low mood, which was so unlike me, and the sudden flashes of anger! I didn't feel like myself. I take a low doe of fluoxetine and feel myself again. Definitely worth it for me, and I've not felt any need to increase the dosage.
