Armpit sensation

I had bilateral lumpectomies with SLE x2  1 week ago and recovering fairly well, how ever the sensation in my left armpit is quite different to the right. I have stinging, burning pain with loss of sensation in the arm pit and down the inside of my arm. Coming from a medical back ground I was fully expecting altered sensation and neurological symptoms but it is quite intense and it feels like I am being gripped tightly under the arm. I have good range of movement and no apparent muscle weakness and my wounds look good. Just wondering if this is normal and if others had experienced this ? Any useful hints to try and ease it ? I have tried to contact the breast care nurses but this is easier said than done. Thanks

  • Hope you get feeling better soon from that sensation.  Sounds like a nerve related issue.  I would call BCN and ask about it.

  • Hi, it's a horrible feeling, I had the same but was told it was mainly from the lymph node removal work but I guess if the lumpectomy damaged/bruised a nerve it could be similar. It took a long while to recover unfortunately

Would be good to get a medical option though. Hope you get through to BCN eventually

    Best wishes x

  • i had a lot of nerve annoyances with my sentinel, some people use a pillow to put pressure on the arm, i bought a light compression arm band which just helped stop the constant annoyance, i would wear for a couple of hours a day. dont buy one that is too tight, but maybe ask nurses if they can get you one

  • Hi, I had pain and a tight feeling.  Was told it was from the lymph node removal.  I massage the area a bit with oil a couple of times a day.  My surgery was 2 weeks ago and it seems to be a lot better.

Would keep trying to get hold.of nurse/medical though just in case it's not the same thing.

    Hope it gets sorted soon.
