Have been taking Letrozole since May but am recently experiencing pressure in my left ear, a sore tongue and mouth for about 10 days now .
Visited the dentist , no problem with teeth but a slight swelling of gum where it joins the two front teeth , he said that food can sometimes get under there and recommended gargling with salt water , it should get better in a few days , no improvement.
Went to see doctor he looked into my ear and that was fine no infection , my neck glands were fine and so was my temperature. He thinks it maybe the side effects of the Letrozole.
I phoned the BCN she has not heard of these side effects before . I have just stared a new pack of Letrozole (Accord) im hoping this will improve things , I can cope with the hot flushes and muscle pain but the ear etc is bringing me down . I was previously on the brand sun pharma .
im also on Alendronic Acid , have only taken 2 and the Adcal -D3
Has anyone had ear, mouth side effects while on Letrozole ?
Yes I have experienced pressure in my right ear on and off plus sporadic sore back teeth on both sides which feels as if my teeth become unaligned between top and bottom and it hurts to clench - not sure how else to describe it. I have been wondering if it is Letrozole. It started after I had been taking it for about 3 months.
Hi i know your post is a few years ago but i wondered if you found a solution at all?
Ive been on letrozole for 3 months and 3 weeks ago my lips, gums and tongue became really sore. (I don't have any ear problems) I've got a dentist appt this week.
You're the first person ive found thats had similar side effects.
Thanks
I get this! I’ve been on Letrozole for 17 months now snd abemaciclib for a year. I haven’t been particularly aware of what letrozole brand I get from the pharmacist, but the abemaciclib is constant as it’s still in patent. In the 5 months when I was on letrozole alone, I was only aware of hot flushes just like I’d had in menopause - and dry, dry skin!
The ear tooth throat symptoms come and go so could be related to the letrozole. I’ve got the symptoms now and have worried about it as I’m a bit vigilant of my my tooth, ear and throat area as I’m on the zometa infusions which can have the dreaded “necrosis of the jaw” side effect. I’ve always been ok according to the dentist and just have 5th one in July snd last one in January to do. Got dental check up next week..
I started a new pack of letrozole exactly 2 weeks ago and it is Amarox brand. I know that I’ve had Accord and Sun Pharma in the past, probably others too, just taking whatever the pharmacy have in at the time. I’m going to start taking notice of which brand I have, also continue with the current one to see if this goes away while I’m on it…
I’m never sure what could be due to the abemaciclib as it can cause symptoms, but more to do with eyes, nose and cough. Next year I’ll have done my time on the Zometa and the abemaciclib and just continue with the letrozole for a further 3 and a half years, according to current prescription notes.
All the best to you,
xx
