i have just finished my 3 x EC and due to start docitaxal, just wondering how others have found it, in comparison. I have been told to except joint pains on the plus side less time with cold cap which is a bonus!! X
Hiya. Your docetaxel infusions will be quicker as it's one drug instead of two. Personally I found docetaxel a little tougher - first cycle I ended up in hospital with sepsis, but my oncologist reduced my dose to 75 percent for subsequent cycles. Second cycle I didn't have side effect from the docetaxel but got parainfluenza which floored me for a couple of weeks. Third and last cycle I was fine. I had no joint pain - that has come with the hormone tablets. The way people react is different for everyone. All the best with the last cycles
Thank you, it’s hard to know isn’t it, and yours seems to have been a mixed of symptoms with each one! How did you get sepsis if you don’t mind me asking? X
Don't know tbh. It was just after Easter. I went out shopping as I had done through all my other cycles but apart from that nothing major. It could purely have been a side effect of the new drug. And I didn't have a major temperature spike either. I just felt really rough and I remembered my first introduction at the chemo unit the sister told me if I feel so rough I can't get out of bed then I should phone red card. My temp was only 37.3 but I phoned red card and they said as a precaution go to hospital. They took bloods put me on a drip and bloods came back I had white blood count of 0.5 when it should be above 5. Had IV antibiotics overnight and came home following evening with a course of antibiotics.
