Hi ,
I wondered if anyone had any experience with receiving news that they had more than one lump in the same breast?
I have IDC grade 2, ER+,PR+, HER2- 12mm confirmed through biopsy but Breast MRI confirmed a 2nd 9mm lump hiding behind it. Unable to see it on US so unable to biopsy. So worried it’s part of the same tumour and spread. I read somewhere that Multifocal bc is more likely to spread?. Breast MRI said my lymph nodes looked normal and no sign. But can they be wrong?
having a lumpectomy next Thursday and the surgeon will take both lumps out now.
My mental health is not good. I am so tearful and angry this week.
I think it’s really hit me the seriousness of the diagnoses and I wish I could wake from this horrible nightmare
Sorry for the outburst!
thanks Laura x
Hi Laura, so sorry to hear you are feeling so upset, it really is a tough time & I can remember this time in my life when revelations kept coming, I felt like I couldn't take any more bad news
I had multifical breast cancer. The second tumour wasnt spotted/visible on scans & was found later. It sounds really positive that they have found both before your surgery. Unfortunately I ended up having two rounds of surgery
It's so hard to comprehend how these things happen, & so much to cope with. Try & focus on your treatment starting next week, the surgery is such a big step forward!
Hope you have some support at home.
Best wishes Viv x
Thank you so mind Viv, your message means so much to me. I know I will get through it, whatever card I’m dealt but sometimes it just feels good to scream!
I am so sorry to hear about your experience too, and that you had to have 2 surgeries.
I hope you are doing much better now and the worst part is far behind you.
thanks again and hugs xx
It can help to get how you are feeling out, either talking things through or screaming!
I am now having some long term treatments & just plodding along with those hoping they do the trick & keep me cancer free
You will get through your treatment plan, & your medical team will look after you, it is just hard to deal with the intensity of what is happening & changes that can suddenly come from no where
Do keep on posting if you need to vent or get advice etc
Take care & all the best for next week x
Hi Lau49
Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. No need to apologise for the outburst. Sometimes you just need to get it out of your system and we've all been there at some point during our cancer journeys. This is a safe place for you to rant about your situation if you need to.
Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery and your treatment when you have it.
Best wishes

Hi Laura. I initially was diagnosed with just one lump only to be told there were 3 lumps which were found during MRI.
I suffer with my mental health too and get very anxious.
From my understanding having Multifocal doesn’t make prognosis any worse.
Sending you a hug. I have mastectomy next week.
Hi Jax,
Sending you massive hugs. Please let me know how you get on and all the very best for your surgery next week.
mine is on Thursday next week and I was told today that he will still go ahead with lumpectomy but I will probably need surgery in future to make both breasts look more equal. At this point, I just want the lumps out of my body. The healing journey is just beginning. I am not alone and neither are you.
here if you ever need a chat
