I am 1 year after a lumpectomy, and feel lopsided as quite a large section was removed from my breast following diagnosis after a mammogram.  Is there anywhere I can go to be fitted for such a thing.  Thanks in advance for your help

  • Hi LSarah

I had a lumpectomy 2 years ago and am now 2 cup sizes smaller and lopsided. I had a fitting for a prostec done by my breast nurse at my breast center.

2 weeks ago I had a meeting with the cosmetic surgeon to have lipofilling and a reduction of my good breast, Have you thought about this., they will be taking the fat from my thighs which i have plenty to give.

    Hope you get it sorted

  • Hi Carolyn. Thanks for your help. I’ll try ringing my nurse tomorrow. I’d not thought about surgery I’ll have to think about that. Good luck with your work though

  • Hello LSarah,  I know what you mean about the amount of tissue that can be removed from a lumpectomy.  Actually the medical term for the lumpectomy is partial mastectomy which is sometimes more appropriate.  I had lumpectomy on both breasts snd am small breasted so it is difficult as if they need to remove too much it would not look good cosmetically.  I am ok with how I look but a little lipofilling would add some volume.  I am 74 and don’t think I want to do it but if I was younger I would do it for sure.  They do it a lot here in US and it looks good.  Another option for you to consider but can always get a prosthesis too .  Did you have radiation too as that can also cause breast changes.  Here is a link on lipofilling
