Hi everyone,
I am very frightened that I have a local recurrence. I noticed a small lump under scar on self exam at the beginning of the year and went to see the BCN. She didn.t think it was untoward but booked me in for 4 weeks time to check. At the 4 week appointment it was another BCN and as I felt it was a bit smaller she sent me away. A couple of weeks ago I felt it again. .I'm Not sure if it had gone or if I just stopped noticing it and then became aware of it again . When I went to see the consultant about starting neratinib,( following surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and a year of herceptin) I asked for it to be checked. BCN and consultant both examined my boob and then some looks were exchanged between them. I'm not sure if they thought my eyes were shut!! I asked the nurse if she thought it was something nasty and she told me that they hoped it was just scar tissue, surgery was in 2021, and were just being on the safe side by screening as I was worried.
I am now in full blown panic mode. Has anyone had anything similar and also any inspirational ways for distracting yourself!!
Love and hugs to you all while you go through your own diagnoses and treatments.
Hi I know how you feel. I’m 2 years nearly post surgery. 8 months after my lumpectomy and reconstruction with flap below breast, I too could feel lump where tumour was removed. I was seen by surgeon 10 days later, examined, mammogram and ultrasound and radiographer and consultant both said scar tissue. Was reassured and told that my breast will always feel lumpy due to the surgery.
Fingers crossed that this is scar tissue for you also xx
Hi WMK
I’m sorry to hear that you might have cancer again. I have scar tissue in my left breast after a lumpectomy over two years ago. I had a CT scan recently as I was diagnosed with cancer in my right breast a couple of months ago and the radiologist was slightly concerned about the scar tissue had changed so he brought me back for an ultrasound and he did some biopsies just to be on the safe side though he was almost certain that it was just scar tissue. The day after the ultrasound I went on holiday to Tuscany and found it a great distraction.
Hopefully it will turn out to just be scar tissue and not a recurrence for you.
Best wishes
