Hi, i recently completed TCHP and didnt get a very good response. I had a clear CT with contrast 5 weeks ago. Had a mascectomy 3 weeks.

I decided to enter a clinical trial for residual disease. It required a further lung ct so they could monitor my lungs during the trial. Ive been told theyve found a small change in my lung on the Sobthat could be due to infection following surgery, but they cant rule out mets. Im terrified!

They are still letting me enter the trial and working on basis its infection unless it grows. I start Kadcyla oe Enhertu next Tuesday.

Anyone have similar findings on a Ct?

Ill be scanned again in 8 weeks. Squeaky bum time Sweat smile

  • Hi Kty

Sorry to hear that you didn't get a very good response to TCHP and that they found something on your lung.  Hopefully they are right and it's just an infection given that your previous CT scan was clear.

Wishing you the best of luck with the trial and with your next CT scan.

    Best wishes

  • While I haven.t had to wait for the results of a lung CT scan to date, I have had to wait for brain scan results, and so , like so many other members of the forum, know how frightening it is for you and how long the waiting seems. I would like to send you love and hugs while you wait and hope for the all clear for you on the next scan . All the  best with the trial . I hope it goes well for you.

  • I am in a similar position. I have Stage 3 BC and my CT scan showed abnormalities on my lungs.  I have been told that this can be nothing though and just scars from previous infections etc so try not to worry. I will be getting a scan every three month to check for changes and it sounds as if you are getting the extra special care treatment too.  Stay positive and just be glad that they are keeping a close eye on you. Fingers crossed it will be nothing and jjust a scar on your lungs from the past. Much love xxx

When I was first diagnosed, they found suspicious findings on my liver, lungs and bladder. Further investigations resulted in the liver and bladder being declared free of cancer. The lungs took a while longer, but in the end it turned out there was no breast cancer there either.

  • Hi Kty,

I had a CT scan last December (post left breast mastectomy & sentinel lymph biopsy) which showed a “nodule” on my left lung which was too small to characterise at the time, so they did another CT scan in April which gave much the same result.

I’ve been told it’s probably scarring from an old chest infection, so it does seem that chest infections can give rise to things showing up on CT scans. However, I spent the 4 months between December & April feeling terrified so I completely understand where you’re coming from.

Hang in there and fingers crossed that your next CT scan is all clear!

  • Hello Kty,  lots to deal with right now and hope you get in clinical trial.  There is a test called signatera that checks for metastatic residual disease and can be done on solid tumors of which breast cancer is one.  You can Google it.  Used here in US.  My medical oncologist ordered it for me even though I had stage 1 early BC.  I am ER positive.
