Has anyone experienced sore skin and slight thickening on their untreated breast on the side nearest the treated one.
Hi Tabbyc, no I haven’t had that on my untreated side and I finished radiotherapy 3 weeks ago. I only had sore breast and skin on treated side with it feeling a bit hard too. My surgeon did a check up and I was told it was all fine.
Might be worth checking with your radiologist or BCN on this just to make sure.

I spoke to my BCN yesterday and she said it was not uncommon to have some over spill of radiation onto the opposite breast. I had an MRI scan just before Christmas which was fine, so I feel a lot better now. Thank you for responding. XX
Hello, I had radiation to both breasts and the radiation oncologist wanted to do the radiation to both at same time as was concerned if he did one at a time there could be the issue of radiation spilling over and he did not want that to happen. Had one surgery in Nov and the next in Feb and radiation started in March.

This over spill is not mentioned routinely, it should, as knowledge decreases the stress. x
I totally agree and my radiation oncologist mentioned it. It is an issue for women needing radiation on one breast only.
