  • Hello harpo42,  I live in USA so don’t know about serenity cream but medical oncologist recommended Relizen for hot flashes/night sweats.  It is plant based and totally safe.  Here is the link for you. https://hellobonafide.com/products/relizen
Hope your wife cools down as hot flashes and night sweats are miserable.

  • Hi just looked it up. I think you need to ask the Macmillan Nurse. My breast cancer was ER and progesterone positive. For that reason it wouldn't be a good idea. I am going through hot flushes for the second time. Covers on covers off, it's a way of life now.  Great that you are trying to work it out together.

  • Hi Harpo42 welcome to the forum.  I haven't heard of this cream, but had a look and its main ingredient is Progesterone, which is a hormone in itself so not one that is recommended in someone who has had breast cancer. The Tamoxifen is to shut off the production of oestrogen but  maybe the best thing to do is to post this into the section of Ask A  Nurse and they may be better able to tell you about this and also maybe suggest a way forward for you to be able to help your wife and yourself.

I have inserted the link into this message and you need only click on this and post in that thread and the Nurse will get back to you to answer your query. I think it is best to seek some more medical advice before you buy anything like this.

  • Yes progesterone is a no no for all of us who are estrogen or progesterone positive.

  • Hi Harpo42, I think it would be best to check with your wife’s medical team or BCN. It sounds as though this cream contains progesterone which isn’t good especially if your wife’s cancer was hormone feed. Plus looking at it it seems to be an alternative for hrt which from what I understand is a no no for cancer. She might be able to get Venlafaxine which I have seen mentioned that others have been prescribed for hot flushes. I have been using Kefir to help. I also take my tamoxifen at night so at the moment I haven’t suffered them during the day.
