Mastectomy

Glad you have your date, but it is nerve wracking waiting to go in. 

I had a single mastectomy with implant reconstruction & reduction on other side. I also had lymph node removal. So 3 drains that came out over a 3 week period.

I found it took me a couple of months to get over the worst of it & have drains & dressings removed etc. I had exercises to do. 

I couldn't shower during that time. It helped to wear loose button through tops in hospital & for a few weeks as coulndt get anything over my head. Slip on shoes are useful as difficult to bend to do shoes up.

Make sure that items in easy reach, not top shelf of cupboards. If you live alone you may need some support for a few days at least with cooking etc or some ready meals.

A V shaped pillow was brilliant as needed to sleep propped up for a few weeks.

kitty may i ask how far apart mastectomy reconstruction was done? or was done in one go?

Two rounds of surgery April & June 22.

I had radiotherapy after surgery which is still causing soreness in my chest & issues with implant. Appt with surgeon in July for another review. I also still have issues with my arm from the lymph node removal. 

I am on long term drugs so see my oncoligist regularly. I'm improving slowly but until some of the drugs end I won't improve much more x
