I just found a lump this morning and luckily was able to get a doctors appointment already. She's referring me to the Breast Clinic. How long does it usually take to get an appointment come through? Also is there anyone here from mid/west Wales and knows where the breast clinic is? Thank you.
Sorry to hear this. I was referred last July on a Wednesday, the mammogram was the following Monday. Very quick. However the results from the mammogram took almost 4 weeks and I was called for an ultrasound and biopsy. I’m South Wales. After that everything happened very quickly. Fingers crossed your lump is nothing sinister - all the best
Do you by any chance have private health insurance through work? The NHS are amazing and I used for my chemo. However for my initial diagnosis and surgery I used private healthcare and had all my tests and surgery done within a month.
Hi
The protocol is 14 days. I had appointment, mammogram and biopsy same time, a week after referral. They have a fair idea of what it is and I was basically told same day. Next appointment was for biopsy results and treatment plan. They are very quick and very thorough. Good luck xx
Hi CrochetPud,
I am Sutton Coldfield, had responsive breast referral within 14 days, on the day had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. That was 3 weeks last Thursday. Friday I was rang by QE to have a vacuum assisted biopsy, haven’t been told my results of first biopsy so I feel a bit in the dark.
Hi Penny
Sorry to hear of the delay. I’m in Birmingham and have been seen at Solihull. Really three weeks is a long wait. I hope you hear soon, waiting is the worst part. Xx
Tracey1977 if you want any advice on Solihull reach out to me. Just finished my chemo at Solihull hospital. Make sure you get a parking ticket if you are having treatment there as it means free parking. Can't have for just appointments but treatment is different. You get 20 visits on one ticket.
Hi petrol
Bless you. I’ve finished chemo at Solihull and radiotherapy at QE. Am back at Solihull now on. Targeted treatment and struggling on. Good luck with the rest of your treatment xx
It has felt a very long time and I don’t know why they are doing a vacuum assisted biopsy. I think I will ring them tomorrow
Thank you all for the replies and taking the time to get back to me when you're in the middle of dealing with all this. I'm so scared right now and trying to act like I'm fine. I don't want my kids to worry, not that they're little, both in their 20s but live at home. Haven't told my mum at all yet, she's miles away and still recovering after a fall and she'd be so worried to. I think I'll tell her once I have the appointment through. My head is spinning with all the thoughts of what may be coming for me, and I don't want the people I love spinning out to about it. At times like this I miss being in a relationship ... although not all the crap that went along with that! How did you handle it?
